Press Release July 13, 2006
Several news reports were in error when reporting Jerry Coffee’s July 11 somewhat late entry into the republican US Senate primary race—
they neglected several other republican candidates implying that Mr. Coffee is the sole candidate. The office of elections at http://www.hawaii.gov/elections lists a total of four other republican candidates. Mark Beatty is the only one of this crowd to have completed filing, being the first US Senate candidate of any party in Hawaii to file. Those that complete filing will be listed on the primary ballot for September 23 and for early absentee voting starting July 25. Mark Beatty also filed with the Federal Election Commission on July 11 which is important for fundraising and legal compliance purposes. Mark Beatty’s April 13 entry into the race is depicted in the caricature below.
